I can't believe this, but it is such a great idea. Recently maintenance of Perl 1.0 (that's right, One Point Oh) has been taken up again. Perl 1.0 was released in 1988. You might think, what in the world? It's a great idea. Perl 1.0 is 1% of the current size of the Perl, so it compiles much faster, and has a much smaller memory/disk foot print. Great for embedded devices and other niche tools.
